By becoming a member of POKA, you will receive an official national student card

By becoming a member, you’ll get immediate access to the Tuudo and Slice student card on your phone. You can also choose a plastic student card in addition to the mobile student card. As a POKA member, your student card gives you all national, local, POKA’s and Slice’s student benefits.

You will get your mobile student card as soon as you join and pay the membership fee. It takes about 2 weeks to order a plastic card. You will be notified when your card is available for collection or you can choose to have it posted.

Membership fee

You can join for the whole duration of your studies (new student) or for one semester or one year at a time.

A full-year membership purchased in the autumn term is valid until the end of September the following year. If your studies end after the autumn term, you can purchase a semester membership valid until the end of January. In the spring term, you can choose a one-year membership valid until the end of January of the following year. If your studies end after the spring term, you can choose a semester membership valid until the end of September.

Multi-year memberships are only available for first-year students and are valid for 2.5 to 4 years, depending on the normal duration of your studies.

Please note that if you graduate/are not a current student, your membership will automatically expire. If you have a multi-year membership and are absent between studies, please let us know or your membership will expire as normal.

Also note that the expiry date in your student card might be the last date you have signed as a present student at the Karelia UAS. This doesn’t mean that your membership is not valid after that, if you have paid for a longer period.

Once paid, the membership fee is non-refundable (POKA rules).

If you would like a plastic student card in addition to the mobile student card, we will charge a one-off fee of €6 to cover the cost of producing the card in addition to the membership fee.

Conditions for issuing a student card

You can get a POKA student card if you meet all the following conditions:

1. you are studying for a degree or a higher university degree.
2. you are enrolled for the semester/term.
3. You are a member of the Student Union POKA. Read the POKA rules and the POKA Privacy Policy.

Please note that students of the Open University of Applied Sciences do not meet the requirements for a student card.
