Student card
As POKA member, you can choose between three different student cards: two mobile student cards and a plastic card. Choose the one that suits you, or use them all! You can use the mobile student cards once you become a member and pay the membership fee. The plastic student card requires an additional €6 card production fee.
Tuudo
Tuudo is a mobile application used in Karelia University of Applied Sciences. Besides of POKA’s student card, you can find many other useful things in Tuudo app such as your schedules, Karelia UAS news and events, campus maps and lunch menus for student restaurants in Karelia’s campuses. On Tuudo, you can find your mobile student card in the side menu right at the top, next to your name. All you need to do is add a photo and you’ll be able to use the card. The background of the student card is blue and you can see the logos of VR, Matkahuolto, Kela and POKA. The validity of the card will come from Karelia’s register according to your enrolment.
If Tuudo’s not working?
If you are a POKA member but the background of your mobile student card is pink and only the Kela’s logo is visible, do this: 1. Go from the side menu to Tuudo’s settings. 2. Scroll down where it says “student card”. 3. Select “Remove card from cache” and select save. 4. Now, at the top of the side menu, select the student card again next to your name and your card is ready to be used!
Slice
As POKA member, you are entitled to the Slice digital student card, which enables you to thousands of student benefits of financial value from the largest student benefits service in Finland. Once you become a POKA member, you will receive your Slice activation codes by email within 1-2 days. Use the credentials to log in to the Slice.fi app in the app store and give the app all the permissions it requires. Congratulations, your student card is ready. Make sure you actively take advantage of these cash benefits to get the most out of your studies.
If you change your phone, you will need to update your student card to the new phone. Go to Slice.fi/resetoi and enter the email address you know from Slice. After a few moments you will receive a link in your email, click on it and you will soon receive new app activation codes in your email, which you can use to log in to the Slice.fi app.
Plastic student card
If you would like a plastic student card in addition to/as a replacement for the mobile student cards, please also select and pay for a plastic student card (€6) when you apply for membership. The card will take approximately 2 weeks to produce and you will be notified by email when the card is ready for collection from our office. You can also choose and pay for the card to be posted to your home when you apply for membership (€4).
The plastic card has a membership sticker showing the duration of membership. If you have paid for a multi-year membership, you should visit our office for a new membership sticker each year. If you have paid for a membership for one year/month at a time, you can renew online or at our office and pick up a new sticker on your card from our office.
Taking a photo for your plastic student card
1. Ask someone to take a photo of you. This way the photo will always be better.
2. Take the photo straight from the front, make sure the lighting is good and the background is white.
3. Your face and whole head have to be in the picture.
4. No hats or other headwear.
5. No duckface!
6. Don’t take the photo lying down.
