Student Union POKA Council Elections: November 18 – November 20, 2024

The student union of Karelia University of Applied Sciences, POKA, is organizing council elections from Monday, November 18, 2024, at 3:00 PM to Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 3:00 PM.

The elections will be conducted electronically.

All members of the student union who have paid their membership fee for the academic year 2024-2025 or the autumn semester of 2024 are eligible to vote in the council elections. Membership is open to all registered full-time students at Karelia University of Applied Sciences.

Each eligible voter has one (1) vote. Voting eligibility can be verified at POKA’s offices during office hours starting from October 28, 2024. Any requests for corrections to the list of eligible voters must be submitted in writing by the first election day.

In the POKA council elections, twelve (12) members will be elected. The remaining candidates will serve as alternate members. The term of the council is for the year 2025.

Running for Candidacy

All members of the student union can run for election to the council. The elections will be conducted as proportional list elections.

Registration requires the use of a candidate form approved by the central electoral committee, which can be obtained from the student union offices or printed from POKA’s website. Candidates must also belong to an electoral list. Each electoral list may include a maximum of eighteen (18) candidates, and each candidate may only belong to one (1) list at a time. The list of candidates must designate a contact person who is a member of the student union. The name of the electoral list must include the word “vaalilista” (electoral list).

Electoral lists and candidate forms must be submitted to POKA’s offices or by email to [email protected] or [email protected] by November 4, 2024, at 3:00 PM. Lists and candidate forms can also be sent by mail.

You can pick up the electoral list at POKA’s office or print here. Fill out the candidate form at POKA’s office or print it and submit it to POKA’s offices or by email to [email protected] or [email protected] by November 4 at 3 PM.
