Election Announcement – By-Elections for the Council of Representatives

By-Election for the Council of Representatives of the Student Union POKA, March 23-25, 2026

The By-Election for the Council of the Representatives of the Student Union POKA will be held as an electronic election from March 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM to March 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM. The election will fill three (3) vacant seats in the Council of Representatives.

Each eligible voter has one (1) vote. The list of eligible voters of POKA will be compiled five (5) weekdays before the first voting day, on March 18, 2026. Voters can check their eligibility at the POKA office during office hours starting from March 18, 2026. Any claims for correction to the list of eligible voters must be submitted in writing by the first day of the election.

In the By-Elections for the Council of Representatives of the Student Union POKA, three (3) members will be elected, and the remaining candidates will serve as alternate members of the Council of Representatives. The term of office for the Council of Representatives will be for the year 2026.

According to the election Bylaw, all students of Karelia University of Applied Sciences who are members of the Student Union and are enrolled as full-time students by the last day for candidate registration, March 16, 2026, at 12:00 PM, are eligible to stand as candidates. Membership in the Student Union POKA is open to all students enrolled as full-time students at Karelia University of Applied Sciences. The elections will be conducted as proportional list elections.

The registration must be done using the candidate form approved by the Central Election Committee, which can be obtained from the Student Union offices or printed from POKA’s website at pokapoka.fi. A candidate must be listed on an electoral list, which can be formed by an individual member of the Student Union as well. The electoral list can include 1-5 candidates, and any electoral alliances between lists must be announced when the election list is established.

Electoral lists and candidate forms must be submitted to POKA’s Tikkarinne or Wärtsilä offices or by email to [email protected] by March 16, 2026, at 12:00 PM.
