Opiskelijakunnan korkeinta päätäntävaltaa käyttää edustajisto, jonka opiskelijat valitsevat vaaleilla vuodeksi kerrallaan. Edustajisto päättää toiminnan suurista linjoista, nimittää hallituksen, joka toteuttaa edustajiston päättämiä toiminnan suurempia linjoja, ohjaa ja valvoo hallituksen toimintaa sekä johtaa strategisen tason työskentelyä. Edustajistoon kuuluu 12 jäsentä sekä varajäseniä. Edustajiston kokoukset ovat avoimia kaikille jäsenille, eli kuka tahansa opiskelijakunta POKAn jäsen voi tulla seuraamaan päätöksentekoa. Edustajisto kokoontuu vuoden aikana kolmeen sääntömääräiseen kokoukseen, joita ovat järjestäytymiskokous, kevätkokous ja syyskokous ja tarpeen vaatiessa edustajisto pitää ylimääräisiä kokouksia.

The Representative Council is the highest decision-making body of the Student Union. Its members are elected by the students for a one-year term. The Representative Council makes decisions on the main directions and priorities of the Student Union’s activities. It appoints the Executive Board, which is responsible for putting these decisions into practice. The Representative Council also guides and oversees the work of the Executive Board and leads the Student Union’s strategic development. The Representative Council consists of 12 elected members and deputy members. Its meetings are open to all Student Union members, so anyone who is a member of Student Union POKA is welcome to attend and follow the decision-making process. The Representative Council holds three statutory meetings each year: the constitutive meeting, the spring meeting and the autumn meeting. Additional meetings can also be held when necessary.

Serving on the Representative Council is a great way to make a difference while also learning new skills. As a Representative Council member, you will gain insight into how the Student Union manages its finances, how its activities are planned and evaluated, and how strategic decisions are made.

We are currently developing the role of the Representative Council, and during 2027 you will have the opportunity to help shape what the Council — and Student Union POKA as a whole — will look like, both now and in the future.
